WELCOME TO THE VILLAGE OF RITTERSVILLE

LEHIGH COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA

1808 - 1920

This is the story of Rittersville, Pennsylvania, a village that was established in Hanover Township, Lehigh County, at the beginning of the 19th century.  If you have an interest in genealogy, particularly in the area of eastern Pennsylvania, you have probably come across the name of Rittersville.  It is hoped that this web site may answer some of the questions posed by genealogical researchers.

It is also a celebration of the village.  It is hoped that this site will give the current residents a sense of place.  (It was also a great place to grow up.)  Although Rittersville was annexed by the City of Allentown in 1920, the village retained its character for many decades following the annexation.  What follows is a history of the village and its evolution after annexation.

Let's begin by answering the question:  So where, exactly, was Rittersville?  See:  Where was Rittersville
